ASABA—PESIONERS who retired from Delta State Civil Service will soon smile, following the  release of N2.8 billion to settle outstanding contributions of workers under the Retirement Savings Accounts, RSAs and payment of pension entitlements to retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme.

Public Relations Officer of the Bureau for State Pension, Mr Toju  Oteri, in a statement, said N600 million will be used for the payment of retirement benefits while N2.2 billion will be deployed to defray the backlog of government’s 10 per cent counterpart contribution to workers’ RSAs up till December 2017.

Oteri said the state government has been releasing N150 billion monthly since January 2017, adding that it was recently raised to N300 million as part of government’s effort to clear pension arrears in the state.

He noted that the state government has promised to sustain the monthly release of N300 million to defray pension arrears.
