In an effort to curb cattle rustling, butchers in Sabongari LGA in Kaduna State are to reject cows slaughtered earlier than the stipulated time, those slaughtered by sellers and those slaughtered without numbers on them.

The Chairman of the National Butchers’ Association, Sabongari Branch, Alhaji Ibrahim Alolo, made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen at Sabongari Market on Wednesday.

Alolo said that the union also resolved to trace the sources of cows brought for sale from villages.

He added that the union encouraged its members especially the youth to go back to school in realisation of the role of education in a society.

‘‘As I talk to you, some of our members are gaining admission into universities and other tertiary institutions.

‘‘In addition to that, we are doing everything possible to inculcate discipline in our youths, and this has been yielding positive results,’’ he said.

Alolo appealed to members of the association to be disciplined, patriotic and respectful.
