Akure—A suspected kidnapper, Mohammed Jaihe, who has been on the wanted list of Boko Haram suspects since 2016, has been arrested by detectives of the Ondo State Police Command.

It was gathered that the suspect has been coordinating kidnapping activities in the Akoko area of the state for years.

He was arrested with one of his accomplices, Jimoh Ahmed, after a shootout with the police detectives who invaded one of their hideouts located at Ago-Ajayi forest in Oba-Akoko area of the state.

Recall that no fewer than 11 persons were kidnapped within two weeks on the same notorious highway.

Families of the victims had to cough out millions of naira before they were released.

Parading the suspects alongside 20 other armed robbers and cultists in Akure, the state Police Commissioner, Gbenga Adeyanju, said Muhammed had been declared wanted since 2016.

Adeyanju pointed out that petitions had been written against the suspects by a notable legal practitioner in the state over the abduction of his client whose whereabouts had remained unknown since 2017.

The commissioner said the name of the suspect continued to reverberate across Akoko area of the state as the kingpin of abductors.

He pointed out that the suspect has made some confessional statements and that the public would be fully briefed after the conclusion of their investigations.

Vanguard gathered that the den of the kidnappers was destroyed by the detectives after the invasion.

It was further learned that the same detectives equally stormed another of their hideouts in the thick forest and set it ablaze.
