ASABA—All Progressives Congress, APC, weekend, suffered a setback, following the decamping of over 5,000 of its members to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ika North East Local Government Area, Delta State, ahead of the January 6 local government elections.
Led by a chieftain of the party in the area, Mr Ebenezer Obiazorkwo and other seven APC ward chairmen, the decampees said their exit from the APC was the end of opposition in the local government, adding that the PDP was the only party on ground in Delta State.
Obiazorkwo, who spoke on behalf of the decampees, said they had decided to follow light, truth and the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa whose leadership style brought peace, unity and development to all parts of the state.
Obiazorkwo assured Governor Okowa of their total lyalty, saying: “We will never return to Egypt in our political journey.”
Receiving the decampees, Governor Okowa told the new entrants that PDP would give them equal treatment with old members.
