UMUAHIA—AHEAD of the 2019 general elections, some members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Abia State, who left the party after the 2015 elections, have started returning to the party to pursue their political ambitions.

Among them is the party’s senatorial candidate for Abia North in the 2015 polls, Chief David Onuoha Bourdex who returned after a short romance with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Chief Onuoha’s return was confirmed during a visit to him at his Abiriba home in Ohafia Council Area by the Abia State leader of the party, Dr. Alex Otti with members of the party’s state working committee.

Onuoha was said to have been abandoned in his new party, APC, by  his supporters and stakeholders of his community who said they would not support him in any other party outside APGA  which is seen as the party of choice in the community.

Otti commended Onuoha for the decision to return to APGA, saying “when he was going to APC, we knew it was not the right way to go. I am glad that he is back to the APGA fold.”

Otti commended the people of Abiriba for supporting APGA during the 2015 general elections and remaining steadfast with the party, and called for more support as 2019 approaches.

On the frequent change of political parties by politicians, Otti said “that is the way of democracy; it is a matter of choice”.

He however warned that as party leader, he would not  accept a situation where people are coming back to foment trouble or to start peddling false information in order to create an impression that APGA was in disarray.

In his remarks, Chief Onuoha, expressed joy to be back to APGA and advised that the party must remain united for party members to win election on the platform of the party.

“This party must be united”, adding that during the 2015 general elections APGA was not united and it greatly affected its performance.

Onuoha noted that APGA in Abia was blessed for having Otti as leader and described him as “somebody who is well loved by Abia people.”
