SENIOR Special Assistant to Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on Political Matters, Mr. Matthew Opuoru, has said that the appointment of the governor by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP National Caretaker Committee, NCC, to head the party’s National Convention Planning Committee in the elective convention slated for December 9, is “no surprise, considering the governor’s track record, achievements and experience.”

Opuoru, who is the leader of Okere Urhobo Grassroots Political Forum, Warri, in a statement, said that the confidence reposed in Governor Okowa by the PDP National Caretaker Committee led by Ahmed Makarfi, was a justification of the “excellent and seamless manner Dr. Okowa organised the party’s non-elective convention held earlier in the year, which restored peace in the PDP after protracted leadership crisis.”
According to him, appointing Dr. Okowa chairman of the 87-member convention planning committee, which comprises serving and past governors, members of the National Assembly as well as proven political strategists, attests to Governor Okowa’s rising political profile and vision.
He expressed optimism that “Okowa’s ingenuity will continue to propel him to greater heights with the positive resultant effect on Deltans.”
