They also lamented meagre monthly subvention by the state government to the institution, saying it was the reason workers are being owed salaries while infrastructures in the institution are decaying.

Chairman of the Union, Comrade Fred Omonuwa, who addressed journalists in Benin City, weekend, regretted that the school became a shadow of itself since the state government stopped the admission of students into the NCE programmes, adding that the university only exist on the pages of newspapers with nothing on ground.

His words: “Tayo Akpata University only exists in the air and on newspapers. There is nothing on ground to show, no accessible roads and the mistake the state government made was to stop the admission into the College of Education thinking that there will quickly start the University but as it is right now they are not admitting students into NCE.”
