Network of Enterprising Women of Nigeria (NEWN) has said that the unveiling of its community business directory will help boost trade among its members.
Mrs Augusta Nwokafor, Coordinator, NEWN, disclosed this during the just ended trade fair held by the organisation for women entrepreneurs in Lagos.
“We have come to understand that businesses thrive based on partnerships and this has impacted the way the NEWN community interact and works for business growth. We support and motivate both members and non-member alike to strive for excellence. This network is about inspiring women to step out of the shadow to do big things that will not only impact their families but also the Nigerian economy.
She added, “We developed a mentorship programme within NEWN aimed at identifying and supporting young entrepreneurs to be independent. We identified the challenges faced by new businesses and experienced members will be mentoring new business to have them successfully navigate the start-up phase. Our earnest desire is to see our members meet their goals. People are registering as either mentors or mentees.
“The whole idea is that a lot of people desire to commence a particular business line if they could have someone in the same business, where they could commit time to learn the intricacies; through the step by step coaching, they will excel. We are just sixteen months into this vision and the community is growing. We also promote a lot of made in Nigeria products, offer consulting services in various fields.
