Imalah writes Ojo, Seeks reinstatement of Marcus as Desopadec staff

By Anthony Arugba

A former President, National Association of Anioma Students, NAAS, Comr. Imalah Ugoachanum, has asked the member representing Ukwuani Constituency, Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Alponsus Ojo to prevail on the management of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, to reinstate Enudi Marcus as staff of the commission.

Enudi, until the termination of his appointment in 2015, was a staff of DESOPADEC.

In an open letter to the lawmaker, Imalah said : ” There is a common saying that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are in an era we should be bold enough to say we are practicing democracy and as such, we should have a representative that should be able to stand for us, wherever he sees wrong, inequality or injustice, speaks out, because this is democracy where the constituency belongs to the constituents and as our representative, our pain and welfarism should remain your utmost priority.”

“But if you choose to remain neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor, for if an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, then the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.

“There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice but there must never be a time when we must not fail to protest against injustice (which in the case at hand, we know too well you are too powerful to let it continue).

“Every person remembers some moment in their lives where they witnessed some form of injustice, and looked away because the consequences of intervening seemed too intimidating. Again, there is a limit to the amount of incivility, inequality and inhumanity that an individual can tolerate.

“From the oppressed himself, Comr. Enudi Marcus, it is no longer news to you our representative the termination of his employment by the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) in March 2015 and such years of unjustifiable reasons for his dismissal from work by DESOPADEC can no longer be allowed to count further.

“Injury to one is injury to all. If truly, you Hon. Alphonsus Chukwutem Ojo is our representative, then the time to stand tall and fight for the reinstatement of Comr. Enudi Marcus is now or you give us justifiable reasons why Enudi Marcus can not be reinstated as a staff of DESOPADEC, but where you fail in both then be ready for a radical revolution that will cause all well thinking Comrades from Ukwuani and all sympathizers with Enudi Marcus to occupy your office till Enudi Marcus is reinstated.”
