Host communities tasked on protection of oil facilities

By Lucky Oji

UGHELLI—An opinion leader from Ofuoma oil producing communities, Afiesere oilfield, in OML30, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Chris Eriyamremu, has charged host communities to protect oil facilities in their respective domains.

Eriyamremu, also a Media Consultant, who spoke yesterday in Warri, on the reported oil spill in Uwheru community, noted that Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited invested in OML30 assets to make profits from which funds will be adequately provided for human capital and infrastructural development across the communities.

He said ” to the best of my knowledge, the Heritage/ Clusters Engagement Meeting, being anchored by Heritage’s Government/Community Relations Department actually provided the opportunity to host communities to present their demands and challenges to Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited, and hopefully, the company will proffer solutions to the demands of the host communities.”

Eriyamremu, further pointed out, ” I sincerely commend host communities in OML30, they have been very peaceful and law-abiding, and have continued to provide enabling environment for Heritage’s operations, this should be sustained while Heritage continues to synergize with community leaders and stakeholders for the development of the host communities”
