ASABA—DELTA State House of Assembly Service Commission has affirmed its commitment to the recruitment, promotion, training and discipline of staff of the state House of Assembly.

Chairman of the Commission, Mrs Josephine Kachikwu, stated this during a retreat organised for the newly-appointed members of the Commission and some senior staff at the Institute of Public Policy, Onicha Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.

Declaring the retreat open, Kachikwu said it was to familiarise members with the commission’s workings.

She said the retreat will also strategically prepare members for the task ahead in the areas of recruitment, promotion, training and discipline of staff of the state legislature and the commission.

Kachikwu noted that the retreat, which was earlier planned for the beginning of the year, was rather coming late due to some challenges faced by the commission since the inauguration of the current board.

She thanked the state governor,  Ifeanyi Okowa, for his support to the commission and the resource persons for being willing to share their experience.

A former Head of Service in the state, Mr. Okey Ofili, delivered papers on Public Service Rules and Financial Regulation, Ethics and Code of Conduct for Public Officers, Communication and Inter Personal Skill as well as Objective, Func-tion, Vision, Missing and Development Priorities of the Commission.
