LAGOS—Chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Charles Udeogaranya, yesterday  urged members of the National Assembly to consider the need for the  Electoral Act to contain a medical qualification standard for presidential and gubernatorial aspirants above the age of 55 years in the 2019 presidential elections and beyond.

Speaking with Vanguard in Lagos, the former Lagos State Chairman of the defunct African Renaissance Party, ARP and former chairman of Lagos League of Political Parties, LLPP,  who is aspiring for 2019 presidency on the platform of APC, said,  Nigeria had suffered severe costs and precious governance time on medical related issues on their president, past president and governors that ought to have been minimized with a stroke of legislation.

“There is no justifiable reason for one to run for a public office if he or she does not have a standard medical fitness to face the needs of a wonderful and great people of Nigeria.

“As it stands today, I remain the only determined presidential aspirant that continues to spring qualitative ideas for a better Nigeria come 2019 and beyond, while others are busy secretly scheming for power acquisition, when they have  no idea of what to do with power in repositioning Nigeria from a consumer nation to an industry of the world.”

“With me, a better Nigeria for all Nigerians will emerge as I am prepared to tender my full medical report, even though I’m a young man of 46years old,” he said.
