Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart and a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Political Matters, Chief Ighoyota Amori, has declared to contest the forth-coming Delta Central Senatorial District election, saying, “If I win, I shall raise Urhobo nation to an enviable proportion at the National Assembly”.
Amori who made the declaration in the presence of thousands of party faithful in his Mosogar country home, said, “Give me your votes and I will attract development and substantial dividends of democracy to Delta Central and the state.”
This came just as hundreds of Orogun people, in Ughelli North LGA of the state, led by Chief Andy Osawota and Hon. Friday Akpoyibo, at the Mosogar country home of Amori, decamped from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the PDP. “Chief Amori is a square peg in a square hole, a symbol of good luck and an embodiment of humble representation for the people of Delta Central,” the defectors said.
Earlier, the state commissioner for primary education, Prof Patrick Muoboghare, had said, “The people of Ughelli North LGA have agreed to support Chief Amori more than they did in 2015.”
