Access Bank/Lagos Marathon: No more room for elite athletes

A  record number of elite athletes have registered to run at the 2018 Access Bank/Lagos City Marathon billed for February 10.

It was gathered from organising officials that more than enough elite athletes have been listed for the race and those still wishing to participate will have to wait till another year.

“We have already registered and made arrangements for all the elite athletes that are coming.

“There will be no back door entrance for athlete still hoping to enter the race. Practically speaking we are ready to run the race,” said Yusuf Alli, the Access Bank/ Lagos City Marathon general manager.

He disclosed that preparations for the event is progressing rapidly and the organisers are looking forward to delivering a hitch free marathon race.

Meanwhile winner of the Dubai marathon David Barnasai Tumo,  one of the gold labeled runners being expected,  said he is looking forward to running his first race in Lagos.

“My colleagues have told me about the Lagos route and how lovely it is. I will love to run and win in Lagos. I also want to experience the warm reception I heard Lagosians give marathoners,”Barmasai said.
