The National Coordinator APGA Media Warriors Forum, Evang Chinedu Obigwe has on Sunday called on Nigerians to disregard reports making round in the social media that the November 18th Anambra gubernatorial election which favoured Governor Willie Obiano of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, witnessed vote-buying, noting that those behind the false reportage are schizophrenia political patients.
Obigwe made the call on Sunday morning in a press release issued to newsmen.
According to him, “the general public should disregard the allegation that Anambra November 18th governorship election was marred with massive vote- buying. Nothing like that happened during the election. We all witnessed the election; it was free and fair. In fact this year’s November 18th election was the fairest election witnessed in Anambra state”, he said.
Emphasizing more on the recorded operations and character exhibition of both the security agents, INEC officials and the electorates, Obigwe lauded all for their stringent guard against unprofessional conduct and zip-up of any form of electoral malpractice.
Read parts of his release bellow:
“The November 18th election was free from any electoral malpractice. It hurts me when some people say it was marred with massive vote-buying. “Those behind the concoction of the falsehood are suffering from election defeat malaria parasite.
“They cooked up the massive vote buying moon light tale as an excuse to appease the conscience of their political godfathers that spent huge amount of money in their failed governorship project.
“Governor Obiano’s election for a merited Second term was a patriotic project of the people of Anambra State.
“They made it a consensus project for the sole aim of encouraging good works in the State and to also entrench political sense of belonging in the State.
“I laud the courage exhibited by APGA Collation agent for Otuocha Ward 2 by ensuring that INEC officials did not compromise the election for that ward.
“I also thank those that toiled day and night to ensure the actualization of Governor Obiano’s second term mandate without receiving any monetary compensation for their efforts.
“The victory of Governor Willie Obiano in the November 18th governorship election belongs to those that have not met the Governor one on one but they fought gallantry for his re-election.
“I assure you that your sacrifice will not be in vain. You see, what transpired in the November 18th governorship election was that APC and PDP made a futile attempt to sway Anambra electorates with money but the electorates disappointed them.
“There are some cases were the oppositions allegedly gave voters 5000 naira, they collected the money and still voted according to the dictates of their conscience.
“Should INEC conduct the election 100times Governor Obiano will still win because the factors that favoured him to win the November 18th election will still favour him to win again.
“Tochi Henry, a reporter from the Blunt Media Communication, one of the media agencies accredited by INEC to monitor the election, in his own reaction gave INEC kudos for organising what can best be described as the best election in the Country.
“ He said that most of the places he visited with his team during the election recorded a massive turn out of voters and that the voting exercise was done peacefully without any rancour, intimidation and irregularities.
“He advised INEC to replicate the template they used for the November 18th governorship election in the forthcoming 2019 general election”, his release finally read.
