The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, yesterday, said it  extended its educational development programme to North-East states, as part of its contribution towards improving the standard of education in the country.

This was even as Delta State emerged overall winner of the 2017 edition of the NNPC National Quiz Competition.

Speaking at the grand finale of the competition, Group Managing Director of the corporation, Mr. Maikanti Baru, said despite the activities of insurgents in the region, the North-East states were included in the programme and they competed fairly.

The North-East states were represented by Adamawa, Borno and Taraba. The states were among the 18 that made it to the grand finale.

The competition saw Isioma Ifeanyichukwu of Federal Government College, Warri, Delta State, beating 17 other finalists, representing 17 states of the federation.

Isioma, first beneficiary of the upgraded prize system, will enjoy a scholarship of N300,000 per session throughout his tertiary education.
