LAGOS—The League of Patriotic Lawyers has said that the detention of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Chief Anyim Pius Aynim, indictment of ex-Director General of Nigeria Intelligence Agency, NIA, Ambassador Oke and Mr. Babachir Lawal indicated that President Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign is alive.
Briefing newsmen yesterday in Lagos, Chairman of the League, Mr. Abubakar Yesufu called on Nigerians to support the anti-corruption crusade.
He also commended Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for respectively being instrumental to the success of aforementioned cases.
His words: ‘’This arrest by the EFCC and the indictment report by Prof. Osinbajo is an eloquent testimony that the war on corruption is by no means alive.
“Nigerians need to rally round the ‘last men standing’ by giving all forms of support to Professor Osinbajo and EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu for their principled fight against corruption that has plagued and bedeviled the body politic for more than two decades. This is the time to wear the garland of honour by hailing and recognizing the efforts put forward by these men of courage and transparency.”
“The country notes your good work. The continent salutes your efforts and the world in form of history reserves a visible page for you. Relent not. Galvanize the people; for we stand with you in your quest to rescue the country from the grip of financial skulduggery.’’
