Internal security: Army conducts exercise ‘Agbara Opolo’ in Lagos

The 9 Brigade of the  Nigerian Army, will Sunday, conduct an operational exercise codenamed  Agbara Opolo, in Lagos state, with a view to exercising its personnel and subordinate units on all aspect of staff duties in Internal security operations.

Exercise Agbara Opolo which means ‘ Brain Power’ , according to the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Major Sydney Mbaneme, is an Indoor Telephone Battle exercise, expected to last till Friday 17,2027.

The exercise among other aspects, will include staff works, battle map marking, watch keeping and briefing of visitors.

Mbaneme added that , “Brain Power” also involve handing and taking over procedures between the Military and civil Police, peculiarities of crowd dispersal, road blocks, curfew and cordon and search.

“To achieve the desired objectives, most especially in consideration of various security challenges within the 9 Brigade Area of Responsibility, personnel of the Nigeria Police,

Nigeria Customs Services, Department of Security Service and other Para-military agencies are invited as participants.”

The General Officer Commanding the 81 Division ,Nigerian Army Major General Peter Dauke, is the Exercise Director while the Commander 9 Brigade, Brigadier General Elias Attu is the Assistant Exercise Director.

“Also, a high powered team from the Army Headquarters is expected to be on ground as observers. “
