Leaders of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos East Senatorial District have stressed the need for members to close ranks and be united in order to sustain and move the party forward.

It will be recalled that in recent times there had been internal wranglings within APC members in the state over disloyalty, among other issues.

The leaders, who form the apex body of  APC, in the Lagos East Senatorial District made the remarks during the  meeting of party leaders in Ikorodu, under the leadership of Otunba Bushura Alebiosu (Bush) to discuss “issues as they relate to the progress of their senatorial district, its residents and the fortunes of APC within the district.”

The leaders present at the meeting from different zones in the district include: Otunba Bushura Alebiosu (Bush), the leader of Lagos East Senatorial District and Omooba Sosanya from Kosofe Local Government; Senator ‘Gbenga Ashafa and Alhaji Ganiyu Ogungbo from Ibeju-Lekki Local Government; former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye and Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun from Ikorodu Local Government; Senator Anthony Adefuye and Alhaji Shakirudeen Anifowoshe (Dengel) from Shomolu Local Government; Chief Lanre Razaq (KLM) and Rt. Hon.Jokotola Pelumi from Epe Local Government.

The group also condoled with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the death of his son – Jide , expressing their sympathy and praying for his family, while commending the “exemplary performance of the incumbent Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.”

In a press statement by the Secretary of the apex body, Joko Pelumi, explained that the group met to discuss issues pertaining to “the unity of the senatorial district in particular, and the progress of APC in general.”

It is gathered that the Apex body called the meeting mainly to foster unity among all groups in the party, particularly, within the Lagos East Senatorial District, in line with the desire of the party leadership, Tinubu to have all sub-groups collapsed into one body in order to present a strong, united and formidable party in the district at all times.

The group stated, “The leadership of the Apex group acknowledges the exemplary performance of our Governor Ambode and his unparalleled drive towards urban and rural regeneration of all parts of our dear state through the numerous developmental projects.”

The group therefore, expressed a “Vote of Confidence in the Governor for work already done and in further anticipation of more to be done.”

At the end of the meeting, it was resolved that the General Assembly of the Senatorial District would hold in the next few weeks in order to bring all party faithful together with a view to forge ahead in unity.
