By Chinedu Adonu

ENUGU—FOLLOWING alleged  attack on former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Okey Ezea, during the recently concluded Enugu State LG elections, the chairman of the party in the state, Dr Ben Nwoye, yesterday  called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the state Commissioner for Transport, Mr Vitus Okechi, who allegedly led the attack.

“I am calling for the arrest and prosecution of the Enugu State Commissioner for Transport, Mr Vitus Okechi and the Deputy chairmanship aspirant of PDP in Igboeze South Local Government Area, Mr  Sunday  Ajogu, over their role in the  torture of Dr. Greg Ezea. This is the only way  this nonsense will stop”, he stated.

Dr Nwoye who said this known while addressing newsmen at the party’s state secretariat in Enugu revealed that over 50 armed thugs led by the commissioner and the deputy chairmanship aspirant attacked Dr. Ezea for demanding that result sheets should be presented before the commencement of the elections.

“we have come to talk about what happened to our leader. Our gubernatorial candidate Dr. Okay Ezea who was kidnapped, tortured and dehumanized. He remained with his captors until the police rescued him.

“I received a call that the man has been kidnapped by the Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Vitus Okechi. I promptly informed the commissioner of police and the DSS. Not long the commissioner called me back and said that his men have rescued him. He was bruised up in different parts of his body. I met him and he narrated to me how he was attacked.

“Okey Ezea has come to be known as the image of opposition in Enugu State. He carried the burden of the Nsukka people. Unfortunately, his attackers are his kinsmen.
