The Association of Venue Owners of Lagos Nigeria, AVOLN, has appealed to Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode against multiple taxation for their members, saying it affects their business in the state.
The appeal came from the Association’s President and Managing Director, Vantage Events Centre, Ikeja, Mr. Wemi Jones, during the media launch and unveiling of AVOLN’s new logo in Lagos, recently. According to Jones, “Event centres pay as much as 15 different types of taxes/levies to the federal, state and Local government authorities. We believe this should be looked into urgently.
‘’We, therefore, appeal that the challenge of multiple taxation be looked into as it is affecting our businesses very negatively”, he said.
Jones said the media launch was organised to interact with stakeholders, government, media houses, venue and event centre owners, believing at the end of the programme, stakeholders and the general public would get to know them better.
