LAGOS—WORRIED over the non-implementation of Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure, CONTEDISS 15, 10 years after approval, Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education, SSUCOEN, in South West, has demanded that the Federal Government ensure its immediate implementation .

The workers argued that in order to avoid industrial action, National Commission for colleges of Education,NCCE, should implement the scheme which was aimed at improving workers welfare.

CONTEDISS 15 was designed for non-academic staff of polytechnics, mono-technics and colleges of education in the country.

The workers also raised concerns over South West governors’ non-payment of workers’ salary despite Federal Government release of Paris Club fund.

They lamented that non-payment of their salaries by the governors for several months had resulted to untold hardship on them and their dependants.

In a communiqué issued after their 28th convention delegates’ conference in Lagos, the lecturers, however commended Lagos state government for prompt payment of salaries, urging other south west governors to emulate Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration.

In a document signed by the Zonal chairman, Ebun Atinuke, and the secretary, Olufemi Ladenikan, they stressed that the actions of the governors have affected their members severely.
