Caraway Ranona Group says it will assist the Nigerian government on policies related to local content development but stressed the need to apply caution as part of the efforts to encourage investors and consumers.
General Manager, Operations and Regulatory Affairs of the Olam and Sanyo Joint Venture, Mr. Prashant Thakur , while speaking with newsmen in Lagos, said the group believed in government policies and would continue to support the growth of exportation of Nigerian products.
Thakur noted that business could only thrive when infrastructures were available, stressing that localisation of industry could succeed when government pays attention to the plights of manufacturers.
“Olam believes in Nigeria economy and this has reflected in our efforts to invest heavily on localisation of raw materials and operations. We will continue to support and commend the government policies on local content and encourage agriculture but there is need to do all this with caution so that the end users would be able to reap the benefits from the policies “,he added.
The General Manager maintained that with Olam Group immense contributions to localisation of industry in Nigeria aimed at bringing out best quality of the manufacturers in Nigeria ,infrastructures development must be a determining factor for it to thrive.
He said with the right infrastructures in place, manufacturers could be able to produce consumable goods at the appropriate time to boost exportation.
“Infrastructures must be developed in the first place, secondly a timeline must be given to investors and thirdly, the facilities must be on ground to aid smooth production processes”
