There is apprehension in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State over perceived plans to upset a rotational agreement of the local government chairmanship slot among the three kingdoms in the local government area —Idjerhe, Mosogar and Oghara.

According to Olorogun Prince Emmanuel Oghenevwiroro, Obaisi of Idjerhe Kingdom, “the last Idjerhe man elected as Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government, Sunday Owode, served between 1999 and 2001, when he was impeached and his Vice from Oghara, Ofotokun, completed the tenure.”

He appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa; former governor, Chief James Ibori, Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairman, Chief Kingsley Esiso, and other stakeholders to intervene for peace, social justice and the well-being of the people of council.

Noting that the incumbent, Solomon Golley, is from Oghara, Chief Umukoro said there was an understanding that Idjerhe kingdom will produce the next Chairman, an agreement he said some political leaders, out of their selfish desires, were plotting to upset.
