In a bid to support teen moms, beautiful Nigerian super model, Bertha Amuga through her newly launched Amuga’s Hope foundation is rendering help to girls who get pregnant at a very young age and are just trying to get by with their child , without the help of the father.
Speaking at an awareness and cocktail event held recently, Bertha Amuga disclosed that “The hardest part of being a young unmarried mother, is the misconception and stigmatization labels from society. Amuga’s Hope is here to give these young single mums hope.
That they conceived at a very young age does not mean it’s the end of the world for them, they can achieve their dreams and be successful like any other woman and we are going to assist in any way possible to secure a bright future for these young women.”
Raised in Port Harcourt, Bertha had a lot of friends who dropped out of school as a result of teenage pregnancy and never got the chance to pick up the pieces of their lives. Amuga’s Hope provide skill acquisition programs and also visit slums and IDP camps to counsel and educate young girls, as well as distribute gift items .
Present at the event were Senator Annie Okonkwo, Nollywood actress, Uche Ogbodo and a host of friends who came to support her.
