Secretary-General of Lagos Elders Council, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgency, cut down the cost of governance to boost capital projects and enable Nigerians enjoy dividends of democracy.
He also said the federal and state governments should also slash salaries, allowances and other emoluments of political office holders especially members of the National Assembly.
Speaking in Lagos, he urged the president to raise a new generation of visionary, patriotic and committed politicians that will take Nigerians to the promised land.
Onitiri warned that looters and vagabonds had taken over Nigeria’s political structure.
“Our present political structure has been taken over by looters, vagabonds and thugs who don’t mean well for our country.”
According to him, the problem of Nigeria is visionary leadership and not corruption, adding that there was urgent need for President Buhari to strive and plug all loopholes and conduit pipes in government.
