The Military Pension Board (MPB) said it had no plans now to conduct verification for retired military pensioners and advised pensioners to disregard any information in that regard.
The board in a statement on Wednesday issued by its Public Relations Officer, Squadron Leader Ikenna Ezendu, disassociated itself from “such deceptive online information.’’
Ezendu said that the board’s attention had been drawn to “false online information circulating among its pensioners as regards to military pension verification exercise.’’
“The unauthorised information is being circulated by some unscrupulous people to mislead pensioners.
“MPB hereby disassociates itself from such deceptive online information.
“The board wishes to state categorically that it has no plans for now to conduct any verification exercise anywhere in the country.
“The board in collaboration with Ministry of Defence will notify its esteemed pensioners and stakeholders when it concludes arrangement to conduct any verification exercise.
“Consequently, military pensioners and other stakeholders are advised to disregard any fake information circulating on the social media and other communication channels,’’ Ezendu said.
