Unemployed man steals N8m truck

Lagos—A 36-year-old unemployed man, Samuel Ajayi, who allegedly stole a truck valued N8 million, and pleaded guilty, has been remanded in prison custody until when the facts of the case will be heard and he will be sentenced by an Igbosere magistrate’s court, Lagos.

The defendant was arraigned, yesterday, before Magistrate Owumi Martins on a count charge of theft.

The prosecutor, Inspector Francis Igbinosa, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on September 5, 2017 at 4a.m.

Igbinosa said that Ajayi stole a Mack truck with number plates LSR 680 XG from where it was parked in front of Hayat Kimya Company, Agbara in Ogun State.

Meanwhile the defendant was whisked to Ikoyi Prison custody until the next adjourned date, September 27, when he would be sentenced.

He also alleged that the defendant broke into the Truck through one of the side glass and disconnected the ignition key which enabled him to steal the Truck, property of one Abiodun Salmon, valued N8million.
