Police nab ‘one chance’ robber in Aba

ABA–A member of a one chance robbery gang terrorizing residents of Aba, Abia State, has been arrested by the Police in the city.

The suspect identified as Kanayo Obichukwu, and other members of his gang had dispossessed one Chibuike Metele, of N150, 000 along Asa road, Aba, and pushed him out of the bus.

Police sources told Saturday Vanguard that Metele who lives at Azikiwe road, Aba, raised alarm which attracted passersby.

A Police patrol men attached to Central Police Station, Aba who were alerted to the incident went after the vehicle later identified with number plate, XA 320 MBL. On sighting the Police team, the occupants of the bus abandoned it and fled. But one of the suspects, one Kanayo Obichukwu was arrested.

Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade, who confirmed the incident, stated that the suspect has confessed to the crime.

The CP disclosed that the sum of N17, 000, was recovered from him, even as efforts are on going to arrest other members of the gang.
