PORT HARCOURT – EDITORS in Nigeria have scored Rivers state high in the area of security, dismissing alleged propaganda against the state as unsafe.
President of Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mrs Funke Egbemode spoke Wednesday during a courtesy visit to governor Nyesom Wike at Government House, Port Harcourt.
She said this was the first time a state would host the annual conference of her body, stressing that they came to Rivers state again this year because of the secured state of the state
She said the alleged propaganda against the state would not obliterate realities on ground that the state was safe.
“Rivers State has become a hub of activities. Rivers State is viewed for all the right reasons.
“What this tells the outside world is that it doesn’t matter the propaganda, people know that Rivers State is safe for businesses and conferences. Rivers State is hosting hundreds of Editors and Bishops “, she said.
Governor Wike on his part said the state was happy to host the Editors back to back , adding that they should continue to play their role as conscience of society objectively.
