NCEF explains consultation with political parties

By Sam Eyoboka

THE National Christian Elders Forum, NCEF, has explained  its ongoing visits to political parties, saying the group desires to sensitise the parties to stop behaving like ‘parastatals’ of government attached to the intelligence service and make haste to dismantle the politics of religion, which portends grave danger for the nation’s unity and progress.

The group of elders which has met with Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance, APDA, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, thus far, in its quest for politics of nationalism instead of the current politics of religion and ethnicity that is threatening to tear the nation asunder, said its meeting with the ruling party, APC and APGA have been rescheduled.

In a statement signed by the chairman of NCEF, Elder Solomon Asemota, SAN on behalf of Retired Generals Theophilus Danguma, Joshua Dogonyaro, Zamani Lekwot and other eminent citizens including Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, further explained that main objective of the consultations is to foster unity and reconciliation, advocating for democracy as the only national ideology that could sustain a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-religious society like Nigeria, and encouraging Christians to participate actively in providing God-fearing leadership for Nigeria.
