Lagos market leader disowns clash that killed trader

By Tony Nwankwo

The scuffle that resulted in the death of an Hausa trader along Alaba Rago International Market, Lagos Badagry Expressway, Saturday, September 16, 2017, was from a misunderstanding between some groups at Okokomaiko. So, the clash should not be blamed on the Alaba Rago market.

This was revealed by the Financial Secretary, Alaba Rago Sectional Head Committee, Alhaji Hamisu Ten-Ten. Ten-Ten said:  “My committee has been inundated with phone calls and enquiries, linking our market with the event.

This statement is to disabuse the  minds of our numerous customers and Lagosians in particular, that the clash that resulted in the death of the trader was not in our market.  This market is at peace, we have gone round and can confirm that there has been no clashes whatsoever here”, Alhaji Ten-Ten said.

He observed that those involved in the disagreement that led to the incident emanated from the neighbouring Okokomaiko, and had nothing to do with the Alaba Rago market.
