ID elects farmer as gov candidate

By Chimaobi Nwaiwu

INDEPENDENT Democrats, ID, has elected 35-year old farmer, Franklyn Ndife, as its governorship candidate for the November 18, 2017 gubernatorial election in Anambra. Ndife was elected unopposed by 243 delegates at the party’s primary election conducted at its secretariat in Awka, the Anambra State capital, weekend.

National Chairman of ID, Chief Edozie Madu, tasked the youths in the state to mobilise and ensure that the party’s victory in the November 18 poll is not negotiable.

He said,“ID as a political party that had the interest of youths and women at heart will field a female deputy governor to further boost the party’s chances of winning the election, ” adding “this is your chance to take your destiny in your hands. Our candidate is only 35 years old; the youngest in the race. You must all go to the grassroots and mobilize support for him.

“Our chances of winning the election are 90 percent. We should not allow this chance to slip off our hands. This party belongs to youths and women; and they are the majority in every election; so I do not see why we should not win the November 18, 2017 election.”

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ndife said he has come to make a difference in the political landscape of the state, adding, “the old people have failed us. We can no longer continue with such retrogressive system. I am 35 years old and a farmer. I have my farms in Kuje, FCT and Anambra State. I have come to revolutionize agriculture in the state and create job opportunities for the youths in that sector.”
