Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association, GCUOBA, has unveiled plans to provide an e-library for staff and students and rehabilitate the wood and metal workshops of Government College Ughelli, Delta State.
Acting President-General Worldwide GCUOBA, Mr. Charles Majoroh, announced this while unfolding activities to mark the association’s 6th Annual National Dinner to hold on October 7, in Lagos.
According to him; “GCUOBA believes that we can’t afford to toy with the future of our children, hence the need to provide an environment conducive to human habitation and learning is a priority. The Association plans to provide an e-library for staff and students and rehabilitate the wood and metal workshops. Emphasis in our interface with the school is largely on the cherished culture and traditions that built the reputation of the school and the character of the students that went through its portals.”
On what to expect, Majoroh said; “A total of 16 iconic GCU alumni would be conferred with Lifetime Achievement Awards, as Dr. Chris Uwaje, Coordinating Chairman, Council for West African Information Technology Professionals, will deliver the keynote address. The dinner Chairman is Amb. Christopher Kolade, CON, a one-time teacher in GCU, as Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is the Special Guest of Honour. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, is the Chief Host, as the Minister of Education, Prof. Adamu Adamu who was an exchange student to the school and many other dignitaries will grace the occasion.”
