Don’t graze on peoples’ farms, Emir tells herdsmen

The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III  has urged herdsmen to be law abiding by avoiding grazing their animals on people’s farms and thereby destroying them.

Alhaji Abubakar Shehu who said this during the eid-el-kabir durbar at his palace in Gombe equally advised farmers not to delay in harvesting and taking their farm produce home in order to avoid running into problems with herdsmen.

Meanwhile, Gombe state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has promised to treat all the residents equally irrespective of tribe or religion.

He nevertheless urged everyone including traditional rulers, community and religious leaders to sustain the prevailing peace the state is currently enjoying, which he argued was a prerequisite for the socio-economic development of the state.

Governor Dankwambo called for continued support from the people of the state to enable him deliver more dividends of democracy.

“I give an assurance  that government would not abdicate its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property of its citizenry,” the governor said.

He also appreciated the patriotic citizens of the state for supporting his policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of the people.
