THE Alliance for Democracy, AD, Candidate, Udoka Obiji Gabriel has pleaded with the people of the state to give women a chance by voting for her. Mrs Gabriel, the only female candidate for the forthcoming election, spoke after reeling out her 9-point agenda for the state. She listed law and order, institution of governance, commerce and Industry, free education at all levels, free healthcare, erosion control, mass housing, information and technology, as well as youth and sports development as areas she would accord priority, if elected.

Speaking with Journalists  in Abuja, the AD candidate who noted that it was only through ingenuity and creativity of government that the populace can witness what she described as an era of self sufficiency and affluence, said that she would bring ingenuity to bear in governing the state in order to ensure that people’s needs were met in spite of the current economic hardship in the land.

Mrs Gabriel, who promised that she would give priority to agriculture, education, security, employment, and youth empowerment, among others, stressed that she would improve on the current Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, of the state without belabouring any indigene or residents of the state through huge taxation.

According to her, she would ensure that no individual, business enterprise or corporation was burdened with double taxation or excessive taxation, while promising to expand opportunities for wealth creation by engaging business men and women to invest in the state.

She promised that, if elected, her era would witness the creation of a better business environment that would increase production, just as she kicked against godfatherism and called for true democracy in Anambra State and Nigeria at large.

Mrs Gabriel who noted that with God on her side, she will boost the development of Anambra State, added, “Civil servant welfare must be a priority and retirees will be well taken of. Women, widows and needy empowerment should not be left out. Informed by the fact that I am not a professional politician, there will not be any form of grandstanding of any sort.
