Former Gov of Benue State, Samuel Ortom
BENUE State governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom has said that an agricultural city that would be modelled after the Chinese model would be created in the state in order to optimise the potentialities of the state in agriculture.
Ortom said this in China when he paid a working visit to the country in order to attract investors, who would invest in the state’s agricultural sector.
He was also at the Yuan Seed Company in Changasha City where he was presented with several samples of farm produce that would be planted in Benue.
In addition, he commended the Chinese firm for making Benue its choice for investment, adding that the people of the state were waiting to see the firm commence its project.
Responding, Chairman of the firm, Mr. Rujun Yuan said the company was committed to implementing the various agreements it had with the state government, adding that shipping of agricultural equipment to the state would soon commence.
On his part, Chairman of Blue Diamond Logistics, China, Mr. Festus Mbisiogu, who is also the Liaison Director of China One Belt, One Road Investment Corporation, commended the firm for having interest in Nigeria.
He further noted that the Federal Government was willing to work with them to ensure that Nigeria’s agricultural potentialities are realised.
It would be recalled that the corporation had earlier visited Benue where it had deliberations on how best to invest in the agricultural sector.
