Preparations for the all-important two legged. Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers between Nigeria and Cameroon has been heightened with the decision of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club to go spiritual on behalf of the Super Eagles.
During the weekend the NFSC led by its National Chairman, Rev. Samuel Ikpea, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Chris Okafor, the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries.
In his speech, Ikpea explained that in view of the unimpressive outings of the Super Eagles in recent times, it is important to seek spiritual support and prayers in order to boost the fortunes of the national team.
“ We understand that passion alone is not enough at these critical period of our football life. Therefore, we decided to visit you to appeal for moral, financial and spiritual support.
“We believe also that with your support our darling national team will surmount the challenges posed by Cameroon, “ Ikpea enthused.
Reacting, Dr. Okafor who describes himself as a passionate football lover, praised the supporters club for their age long patriotism which has been instrumental to several successes achieved by the country’s various national teams.
“Firstly, I must commend the supporters club for your love and patriotism. It is my prayer that God will continue to strengthen and also protect and bless you,” Okafor prayed.
“I have never failed to watch and pray for our various national teams whenever they play. Therefore, going into these important matches against the Lions of Cameroon, I believe strongly that God will give us victory,” he added.
Okafor, who made a donation of half a million Naira to support and encourage the trips of the NFSC to Uyo and Limbe in Cameroon, went on to predict that the Super Eagles will qualify for Russia 2018 World Cup with a game to spare.
