PORT  HARCOURT—Rivers State House of Assembly has screened 13 nominees submitted by Governor Nyesom Wike for appointment as Commissioners.

Speaker of the House, Mr Ikunyi Owaji-Ibani, who presided over the session, yesterday at the House of Assembly complex in Port Harcourt, charged the nominees to put the state first  in the discharge of their duties.

He said that they should see their nomination as a call to serve their father land, adding that they should strive to serve meritoriously.

Governor Wike dissolved the state cabinet recently and reappointed the Attorney General and Commissioner for  Justice, Mr Emmanuel Aguma to the same office a few days later. With the screening on the floor of the House more commissioners would emerge soonest.

The governor also two days ago announced the sack of his Special Advisers, retaining only the one on Religious Affairs, Bishop Winston Iwo.

Few of the old commissioners who made the list of nominees include Mr Emmanuel Okay, Walter Ibibea and Professor Kaniye Ebeku.
