Bose Ransom Kuti, wife of late human rights activist Beko Ransom Kuti, yesterday called on Nigerians to support youth sports development, as it could help prevent youth restiveness and unemployment.

“I have always looked at these kids as future greats as they played football. There are many of them without playing boots even as they exhibit good skills. I called their coach and we were able to present about six of them with boots.

“Then as we marked my husband’s posthumous birthday we thought it appropriate to organize a tournament. These kids need encouragement and l urge Nigerians to support our youths in any way they can.”

The U-13 game between FC Beko Ransom Kuti and Songs of Praise  (SOP) Academy was a thrilling encounter as both sides demonstrated good football skills at the Anthony Village stadium in Lagos.

Scores were even at 2-2 in the first half. After the break SOP Academy shot into the lead. However FC Ransom Kuti levelled up and scored the winning goal with five minutes left to play. FC Ransome Kuti won 4-3.
