The victim, who lives at Achilihu Street, Umule, Aba, was said to be on his way home at about 7.30pm, when the hoodlums seized him and forced him into the back of his vehicle.
On sighting the Police team, the kidnappers abandoned the victim in his Volkswagen Torres SUV with number plate, NCA 778 AM, and fled.
Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade, commended residents of the area for alerting the Police team, stressing that the Police in the state have the capacity to respond to distress calls within few minutes of receiving information.
He disclosed that a locally made short gun with live cartridge abandoned inside the vehicle by the kidnappers was also recovered. Oyebade added that efforts are on going to track the suspected kidnappers.
