THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is beginning to bubble again in Anambra State with the Professor Alphonsus Nwosu –led caretaker committee assuring that it would provide a level-playing field for all aspirants in the party.
Before the inauguration of its local government caretaker committee in Awka, yesterday, the major stakeholders, including Professor Nwosu, former Governor Peter Obi and others took part at a pre-inauguration meeting at the Geogold Hotel in the Anambra State capital to harmonize the committees.
Essentially, the caretaker committee chairman said he had set the machinery for a credible membership register of the party at the ward level, adding that every election concerning PDP must be transparently conducted so as to regain the confidence of the electorate in the party.
He said: “Our strategies are our main weapon for reconnecting with the people of Anambra State and getting their mandate. Since we are determined that the people must choose who governs them, our main task is therefore to connect with Ndi Anambra so that they can choose our candidate to govern them.
“What we shall do to reconnect cannot be revealed to our competitors. Our promise, however, is that we shall be open, we shall canvass superior solutions to Anambra problem and we shall unveil a superior vision of where Anambra shall be and how we shall get there and finally we shall be decent in executing our strategies because Anambra State, in recent weeks, had seen the kind of violence that is abhorrent to the human soul.”
He explained that with the calibre of members of the caretaker committee, which include Iyom Josephine Anenih, Senator Annie Okonkwo, Elder Linus Ukachukwu, Senator Ugochukwu Uba, Chief Obiora Okonkwo, among others, they were prepared to give Anambra people the best.
