Okowa moves to amend DSIEC, LG laws

lAs DTHA confirms 5 nominees into DSIDA

ASABA— Delta State House of Assembly has received an executive bill for a law to repeal the State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, law 2012 and some aspects of the state local government law 2013.

The bill was contained in a letter forwarded to the House by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and read on the floor of the House at plenary by the Speaker, Mr Sheriff Oborevwori.

In the letter, the governor is urging the House to repeal and re-enact the State Independent Electoral Commission Law and the Local Government law, 2017.

Okowa in the letter conveyed his compliments to the Speaker and members of the House of Assembly and solicited their consideration and early passage of the draft bill.

Meanwhile, the state House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the five nominees forwarded to it for appointment as Chairman, Director-General and members of the State Investment Development Agency, DSIDA,  by Okowa.

Those screened and confirmed included, Mr Afam Obiago, Chairman; Mr Anthony Akpomiemie; Dr Godwin Adolor and Mr Godwin Ibe as members while Olorogun Lucky Omoru is the Director-General of the agency.
