BIRNIN KEBBI—National Directorate of Employment, NDE, has opened Solar Energy Training Scheme, SETS, in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, which was organised by its Special Public Works Department.
Speaking while declaring open the training, Director-General of NDE, Dr Nasiru Mohammed, said the scheme is one of the renewable training programmes designed by NDE to generate employment for graduates to explore new areas of job creation.
“NDE sought for other means of energy production and, therefore, adopted renewal energy training scheme as one of its strategies for employment in power generation,” Mohammed said.
Represented by the state Coordinator of NDE, Alhaji Mohammed Zogirma, the Director-General further said: “Nigeria today is witnessing slow progress in power generation, which is not adequate for the nation’s industrial sector operation capacity, coupled with the explosive population that needs constant supply of energy.”
He noted that NDE will not relent in its efforts to ensure mass employment for youths and as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to attain the minimum of 30 percent renewal energy for the country by 2030.
