Mainasara Illo is APDA’s new chairman, Eguabor is spokesman

Former sports broadcaster and sports administrator, Mainasara Illo has emerged as the new national chairman of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance, APDA, the political party allegedly registered as an option B at the peak of the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Besides Illo, another journalist and former publisher of the defunct National Interest, Ide Eguabor was also appointed into the new National Working Committee, NWC of the newly registered party. Eguabor emerged as the National Publicity Secretary of the party.

The appointment of the new NWC follows the expiration of the life of the interim NWC which was composed following the registration of the party by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

A statement jointly signed by Illo and Eguabor on the outcome of the meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC of the meeting in Abuja read in part:

“Other national officers whose appointment were confirmed at the meeting include Yakubu Mohammed Tanko, Deputy National Chairman (North) Dr. Fijabi Adebo, Deputy National Chairman (South), Amobi Nwosu, National secretary

“The National Organizing secretary Saleh J. Barde retained his position, Hassana Abdullahi was unanimously appointed Deputy National secretary while Francesca Effiong U. becomes National Financial secretary.

“The decision to retain members of the National Executive Committee, NEC, other than those who have resigned or been absent since appointment was also unanimously ratified by the meeting.

“The NEC meeting equally ratified the composition and names of the BOT members after which a new chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu was named the Chairman.
