abuja—The Amanyanabo of Nembe Kingdom in Bayelsa State, Dr. Edmund Daukoru, has blamed the recent upsurge in hate speeches across the country to the erosion of the patriotic ideals of the country’s founding fathers among the present generation.

Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa (2nd left); his Deputy, Barr. Daukoru, a former Minister of Petroleum spoke at a seminar on National Unity and Security by the Department of State Services, DSS, in Abuja.

Besides, the erosion of patriotism, he cited ongoing exposures of corruption in high places, ethnic agitations, militancy as well as herdsmen versus farmers clashes and sporadic Boko Haram attacks for the hate speeches.

Daukoru, Mingi 12th, who is also Chairman of the South-South Monarchs Forum, said present generation of Nigerians need to dream big and far-sighted dreams for the country, in order to recapture the spirit of patriotism and self sacrifice that propelled the nation’s founding fathers.

“I am drawn to the unavoidable conclusion that Nigerians no longer dream and articulate the far-sighted dreams that our founding fathers, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Harold Dappa Biriye, Anthony Enahoro and many others dreamt,” he said.
