Gov Ifeanyi Okowa
ASABA—GOVERNOR Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, has reiterated the need for Nigerians to work hard to ensure that all elections reflect the will of the people.

Gov Ifeanyi Okowa
Okowa stated this when the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Delta State council, Mr Michael Ikeogwu and members of the newly inaugurated executive paid him a courtesy visit at Asaba, the state capital.
He expressed concern that falsehood was being disseminated in the social media, charging journalists to always cross check their facts so as to avoid heating up the polity.
Okowa said it was unfortunate that people could say things that do not exist or post things that they know were false.
Stressing the need for journalists to be fair and just in their reportage, he said it was imperative for them to maintain the dignity of the journalism profession and be disciplined in their conduct and reporting.
He said, “We need to cross check facts before posting. Now with the new media, all manner of reporting is out there in the public.”
In his remarks, Ikeogwu said that they were in the Government House to present the newly elected executive members of the union to the governor and pledged the support of the union to the development of the state.
