PROSPECTIVE investors in real estate sub-sector of the economy have been told not to wait until they have millions of Naira before investing in landed property as they can do so even with a little amount.

One of the estates under Lagos Rent-to-Own scheme
Making this known at the mega land promo launch and empowerment summit organised by Richlife Commercial & Logistics Ltd, a Lagos-based real estate company and owners of Richlife Estate & Gardens last week in Lagos, Pastor Sunday Ezekiel, Executive Director of the company said most millionaires today across the world have investments in real estate.
Ezekiel, who is the head of administration of the company, noted that all people need to become wealthy is to invest in real estate.
Property investment
According to him: “The land you bought yesterday will appreciate with time and return on investment will grow. If you buy an I-phone 7 for N450,000, the value of the phone will start depreciating immediately after purchase. But if you invest this amount in real estate, you will make return on your money if you decide to dispose of it even immediately after purchase. This is because property investment appreciates by the day”.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Bankole Oluwasheyi, noted that the objective of the company is to assist as many as out there to have land and build their own houses in order to be free from being tenants forever.
“This is the sixth edition, and there are so many testimonies from the beneficiaries of the programme since we have been organising it. With the programme, people have realised that they can actually purchase plots of land without stress and people can actually purchase plots of land and pay on installment basis and have their allocations in any of our sites after completion of full payment.
”If you find out from people, they will tell you how difficult it is getting plots of land. A lot of people have harrowing experiences with regard to owning plots of land wherever across the country. But thank God for this programme which has simplified and made acquisition of land easy. For instance, the problem of land grabbers popularly called Omo ni les which was a very serious challenge to prospective land buyers in the past, is now fading away.
“Now, people can come to companies like us and buy plots of land to avoid the trouble of the so-called Omo ni les. Currently, we have 13 estate locations that span between Lagos and Ogun states. We have Ibeju-Lekki phase 1, Ibeju-Lekki phase 2, Okun-Ajah by Abraham Adesanya Estate, Ajah, Ewekoro phase 1 and 2, Abeokuta phase 1 and 2, Ofada, Shagamu phase 1 and 2, and in Atan and others.
Also speaking, Oladuni Adeyemi, an executive director of the company said it was after the first promo launch that his company came to the realisation that about 70 per cent of people leaving around Lagos and Ogun states are in rented apartments even though they would like to live in their own houses.
He added thus: “Apart from the fact that people can get cheap plots of land from us, we have also been able to solve that problem of Omo ni les which had hitherto constituted a serious headache for prospective land buyers, as we would have settled all encumbrances on any of our sites before selling to people.
“In all of these, the bottom line is to support the government at all levels to be able to solve the housing problem of the country, as governments alone cannot do it. There are estates here and there built by governments but not within the reach of the common man in the country.
“So, we said let’s come in and do something that will benefit the common man in the society. And that is exactly what we are doing by organising the promo launch where people have the opportunity of subscribing for plots of land for as low as N100,000 and make payment in installments. This is what the government cannot do for the people”.
