Second vice president of the NFF, Shehu Dikko who spoke to Sports Vanguard in Abuja said already the federal government has approved the release of funds that the federation will be needing to prosecute all the remaining qualifying matches.

He further stressed that everybody in Nigeria, including those at the presidency knows the importance of defeating Cameroon at home because that will take the country closer to booking a place at the global fiesta.

According to Dikko who is also the chairman of the League Management Company of Nigeria (LMC), Super Eagles coach, Genort Rohr is already in Europe to monitor the progress of the players as they take part in pre-season matches with their respective clubs.

“The NFF is putting everything in place to ensure that the Super Eagles win the match against Cameroon here in Nigeria.

Already the federal government has been magnanimous enough to have granted all our approvals for the release of funds to prosecute the matches. I am sure that the funds will be released before we play Cameroon in the first leg.

“Truly, all hands are on deck, everybody including in government know that if we defeat Cameroon, it will only be one step to be at the world cup so nobody is joking with it. Nigerian delegation is already preparing to go to Cameroon to make all the necessary arrangements for the return leg.”

Dikko further revealed that Rohr has already told the players the need to win the game for the ailing goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme.
