LOKOJA—Kogi State government, yesterday, said it will build 38,400 additional classrooms for primary schools across the 21 local government areas of the state.

The state’s governor, Yahaya Bello, who stated this yesterday during the ground-breaking ceremony of the classrooms project at St. Luke Primary School, Adankolo, Lokoja, said the project will be tagged Governor Yahaya Bello Model Primary Schools.

According to him, the school will consist of 240 blocks of two classrooms each in 80 primary schools across the 21 council areas.

Earlier, Chairman of State Universal Education Board, SUBEB, Mrs. Deborah Osetimehin, stressed that education is the only legacy any responsible government can offer to the society, adding that the governor has been making conscious effort to wipe out illiteracy in the state, and that “the project will remove the burden of heavy school fees from parents.”

Also speaking, ALGON Chairman, Taufiq Isah, appealed to the people of the state to embrace the laudable projects initiated by the governor, saying the education project will go a long way in benefiting children yet unborn.
